I definitely loved this more when I read it as a teenager, but even as an adult I can understand that love. This was such a nostalgic re-read for me! I remember my horror at finding out about
Jace and Clary's "relatedness," but re-reading it now was even more horrifying. Obviously I know they're not actually siblings, but it's so weird to me that that was the premise and still the two are written as teens with feelings for each other with chemistry. It totally gives me the ick.

There's definitely language that is extremely dated, and the writing itself made me cringe at times, but the story as whole remains interesting and fun. I'm excited to re-read the rest of this series and enter into the expanded Shadowhunter world that I have yet to experience. One can only hope it gets better from here.
