If you've read the first book "Warcross" because it kinds resembles "Ready Player One", this book deviates from that story line to something else. and while I still prefer "Warcross", I enjoyed the ride of "WildCard" even if the ending was a bit too convenient and a little bit plothole-y.

This book picks directly where "Warccross" ended, and the journey is focused on the trio: Emika, Hideo and Zero, with the introduction of some new characters who play major role, and we know more about the Phoenix Riders' back stories: Roshan, Hammie, and Asher, which is honestly one of my most favorite things in this book.

My main gripe is that simulations and the world of "Warcross" is supposed to be lavish and full with details, but towards the end, I felt that Marie Lu used up all her power to detail each different place they went to, so she just gave up, which is a shame.

In this book, we know more about Sasuke and his story, which was both tragic and unexpected, and I loved that too. Also, I'll always stan Hideo and Emika together even if their resolution was kinda clunky, I love them together and I wanna see them happy.

I still loved this book and enjoyed the socio-economical aspect of this virtual world and the game of Warcross, and I loved the glimpse of the dystopia if something like the Neurolink was in some evil hands. I just wished the ending made more sense and wasn't that rushed.
