Extras by Scott Westerfeld

3.0

Okay, when I say I love this series with my WHOLE HEART, I mean it. Like, forreals. I've been reading and rereading this series almost every year since I first discovered it in 2005-2006ish, and it's definitely one of my comfort reads.

As usual, this book is my least favorite in the series, and it might honestly just be because Tally and David don't make a huge appearance in it, and the content of this usually just goes right over my head... but still loved every second of this reread!

Not my favorite book of the series, but it was still interesting. This was a reread from one of my favorite series in high school. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again — I’m still waiting for hoverboards to make their way to the real world.

Even as a kid, I could remember all the stories and events that were told in the first three book of the series. But each time that I reread Extras, I could NEVER remember what happens in any of it. Maybe because it’s confusing to me? Or maybe because it’s not centered around Tally, and that made me sad.

Regardless, I am still impressed and amazed by this world Scott Westerfeld has created. It’s like the OG Black Mirror. The language is pretty gag-making and the concept has always been dizzy-making to me, even as a kid, which is probably why I was so drawn to this series many years ago. Sad I completed this series again, but I’ll definitely be revisiting it in the future!
