on the surface, Lapvona feels unnecessarily filled with gore and terrible characters, but if we dig a bit deeper, it shows us humans questioning what humanity, survival and religion mean in these fascinating medieval lives. Moshfegh did a great job here, but this work of hers might not be for everyone.
