i hate myself. this review is more than three months late and i remember hardly anything about the book, but i thought "okay, that's fine, i'll just write my review based on what i wrote in my journal". tell me why i just wrote "pynch" 36 times. that's not helpful.

anyway, it did remind me that i didn't leave the series with any strong feelings, hence why i didn't write anything interesting in my journal. adam and ronan were the only two characters i really cared about (sorry to the bluesey fans, they're sweet and all, they just didn't do anything for me). this is so frustrating to me because one of my least favourite types of reader is the type that only cares about romance and ships, ignoring all the themes and plot and worldbuilding and whatever else and getting annoyed at their faves not being the central focus of the book. i don't want to be that type of reader, but in this case i unfortunately am.

i wrote 3.75* in my journal and november wrap-up but i'm lowering it slightly now because it's bugging me how little i have to say about the series. i just don't care about any of the various plot elements! i will eventually read the dreamer trilogy, if only for more ronan content, but i currently don't have any desire to. i definitely won't be rereading the raven cycle anytime soon. i do wanna say that 3.5* is still a decent rating, i did enjoy the book in some ways, i think the conclusion came together decently. i don't wanna sound totally negative because the series isn't the worst thing i've ever read. this feels like such a lacklustre way to end a review but yeah.

so, past me lied when she said she wouldn't be rereading this series anytime soon. in her defence, i missed pynch. i didn't think i'd be willing to wade through all the plot stuff just for them but i did. was it worth? i did enjoy the book a little more this time, so i guess so! i still don't particularly care for the plot, but at least i'm one step closer to reading the dreamer trilogy. whatever that means. i definitely won't be rereading again anytime soon, for real this time.
