I really wish this story had been from Isabel's POV. I wish Schanoes had gone with the original ending, where Jake and Isabel don't reunite. According to the author, Jake has depression as well, but my initial impression of their reunion was "well, I'm going to put up with your unlovable depression and that means I deserve your heart. Even though you pointed out that I barely know you as a person."
As it stands, it leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not rating it because I love the author's other work and the story is so apparently about her experience of depression. It just raises my hackles.
