An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green
5.0
Love it love it love it! Let's start off with Arpil May. I liked her in the beginning. Then as she was getting more and more famous she was getting extremely selfish and manipulative. She used and abused the people around her which I found so realistic. She was getting addicted to her new internet fame and the money and attention that came with it. I liked the fact that I didn't like the choices she was making. Her intentions were good, but man she was dumb sometimes! It was good reflection on how social media can change people so quickly. How a no-one can become a someone over night.
She is super sarcastic and funny at times. I really liked this tone throughout the book. Has some humorous parts. Plus the actual science fiction elements were fantastic. I would classify it as a Young Adult novel but the sci-fi wasn't watered down, it was still a significant part of the story. There are some cringe dialogue like when her parents say "holy shitballs" at one stage. AND THERES LOTS OF ALL CAPS TEXT for extra drama.
All in all, great read.
