A Lot Like Adiós by Alexis Daria
Did not finish book. Stopped at 7%.
7% in and I did not like the way one MC was behaving. It’s not “bad”, it just really seems unlikely/super weird given the history we’re given. Reason/spoiler below.
He bails on her and moves away for college, they never see each other again, and when his gym wants to hire her for a marketing campaign, she demands he stays in her apartment with her when he comes back to town to open a new gym. What? Why would he do that? If that kind of scenario is going to work, it needs more context/set up. It just felt uncomfortable to me. And then we find out her apartment is being renovated so actually they’re staying at her parent’s home?! I know they were best friends and have a history, but to make that a condition of working together seems way to random and weird to me.
Again, it’s not bad, it’s just not for me.
