There is so much life and emotion in this slim book.  It’s easy to see why it won all the awards. Williams-Garcia can really write.

The sisters’ dynamic is brilliant. Gosh I love those three firecrackers. It’s impossible not to root for them and laugh along with them and love them.  Delphine is especially memorable, though they are all sweethearts in their own ways.

This is one of those books with hard stuff and lightness and ordinary life all mixed together and the result is a sense of having experienced something very rich and true. A gem.
