One Book in the Grave by Kate Carlisle
4.0

This was a 4.5 for me. I swear the more I read in this series the more I love them. Brooklyn is awesome (her job restoring books it super cool), her family is amazing, and the men around her are swoon worthy. In this novel we meet some new major characters and there are so many twists and turns. I don't know how Brooklyn deals with the stress of her life being in danger time after time. I can see why Derek wants to get her a bodyguard (hopefully for us it's Gabriel). The snippets of bookbinding narrative are really interesting to me and I always appreciate their inclusion. I wish I could actually see the process, but Kate Carlisle does a great job describing that I feel like I almost can. As for the mystery, I had a feeling I knew who it was
Spoiler it was between Emily and the Ogun sisters. They just seemed a little to crazy and brainwashed by their church that I could completely see them murder people and act nonchalant about it. I also was afraid that after Emily and Max's reunion, she would actually be evil. I am so glad that's not the case because it would have made me so sad...and I loved the ending so much. I just thought Angelica and Solomon were way too obvious to be the actually murderers of everyone. Also I am so happy for Brooklyn and I see wedding bells in her future. I love how Derek doesn't try to hold her back (even though she keeps putting herself in danger), loves her family and will do anything for her friends. They are such a good match.
I hope we see more of Max and Emily in the future. I definitely missed Robin now that she is not living in San Fran I am worried we won't see much of her, but I'm hoping that's not the case! Also the neighbors only made a very short cameo. I'm hoping it is because there is already a complicated cast of characters for this story. Please bring back the quirky characters in the future!!
