Wardens of the Mountains: Black Jones by Mia D. Saga, Mia D. Saga
4.0
When I read that this was a Robin Hood retelling I was intrigued, and this was a retelling with twists! It still held the same values as the tale we know, but the retelling was its own thing and not a direct copy.
I did like the multiple pov as it was very nice to see all the characters and world through their eyes. There was some development between the characters as we see their relationships start to grow.
The writing style was simple and easy to read, I did find in some places the description was a bit too much in detail and there was more tell then show.
The plot was always moving and whilst being a short book there was a lot of action. The worldbuilding was simple with small little details added later on into the story that I found interesting. The politics between the kingdoms and woods are intriguing and had me very curious.
There are some dark topics mention like trauma, torture, abuse, death and suicidal thoughts so bare that in mind when reading, it would be nice to have a trigger warning page before you start the book.
The ending of the book had me shocked and I need to read the next book to find out what happens as that cannot be the end!
