This book had so much potential and ended up really squandering it.

First and foremost in my mind, even months after reading it, is that this book had some really weird phrasing and terms used in describing the one overweight character. It was really off putting, especially when they would not refer to her as her name, but rather some sort of grotesque description involving weight.

Additionally, I think the concept was just wasted with this execution. The Jedi before they were formally known as Jedi? Sign me up. But rather than preset us with the burgeoning ideals and concepts that will become the Jedi, we instead are given a story almost so stripped of Star Wars that you don’t really feel like you’re reading a Star Wars book. And the “new” thing introduced in this book, a new Force ability, makes no sense to be added when the author (and readers) know that this power shows up no where else, canon or otherwise. So why add new things that can’t be continued? Why not add depth to the foundation of Jedi lore and history? So much potential squandered, in my opinion.

And that is really my stand out thought, writing this review so long after reading it. Not super impressed with this stop on my Legends journey
