La Petite Mort by Olivie Blake

3.0

i love olivie blake, and it was lovely to read something written so early in her career. i especially enjoyed seeing glimpses of how her style developed into what it is today. this book is obviously not as polished as her current work, but the premise and the plot twists are solid, and i wish it would get rewritten and picked up by a publisher. the heart of this story is ultimately jack and elisabeth, and their relationship. the main character, marissa, was underwritten and fell flat. this especially showed towards the ending, which was way too abrupt and ruined the flow of the story. and as always, i absolutely devoured little chmura’s illustrations.
