Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - 2 Book Bundle Collection by J.K. Rowling

5.0

Screw it, five stars. Five stars. Almost gave you four instead but nope. You get five. A summer with new Harry Potter. A summer where I pick it up, read it in one sitting on the day it's released, and then march it down to my Dad to read once I finish. Traditions, man.

I really hope this comes to Canada sooner rather than later because I would love to see this staged for real. Reading it a a script was no trouble at all, I almost forgot I was reading a script at times so if that's worrying you (which is probably isn't) stop.

Anyway this could have gone really bad or really good. It went the latter. I actually like it more than I like Deathly Hallows (oh, let me sing you my problems with Deathly Hallows). This is so much better than the epilogue. We have Harry's son dealing with stuff we'd expect he'd deal with being Harry's son but compounded by having a completely different perspective and experience at Hogwarts than his dad. I mean, big concept it is not but it is done really well. Of course Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy (yup, this is our dynamic duo this go around!) get into a large amount of trouble for 'noble' reasons and it is a great adventure and a great check in with our old friends Harry, Ron, Hermione and company as they get older and do their best at the whole parenting game. And with not being stuck in the past.

That's as far as I'll go without getting into spoilers. Suffice to say I really enjoyed it, I hear the play is getting good reviews, and there was no need to be worried.
