Apprentice Needed by Obert Skye

My issue with the book is that the good.guus really don't seem so good to me. In the course of this story Rin again spends much of it taking advantage of the orphan boy financially which has always bothered me, but he also goes too far. By the end of the story he has systematically taken away everything Ozzie had and somehow he's still supposed to be the good guy? He burned down Ozzie's house, stole his long time companion Clarke and left his daughter and Ozzie alone with a killer. And through it all these kids just keep forgiving him and following him. That's not a good guy and his actions in the story are not in anyway okay. To me he seems like as much of a villain as Ray, he's just trickier about it because he's screwing the kids over and convincing them to thank him for it. Sure its starting to actually seem like Rin has some magic, but actually being a wizard doesn't make him a good guy.

While the story was action packed I don't think it was a good installment to the series because these poor kids are so naive they can't seem to see that Rin is no better than Ray and it wouldn't at all shock me if by the end of this journey we learn that he's only tagged along to get the power of the formula for himself. I'm just really tired of watching Ozzie and Sigi get screwed by someone they trust and keep forgiving him for it.
