Murder at the Vicarage
by Agatha Christie
It took me a while to get to a Miss Marple mystery in book form. I read Ten Little Indians in high school as the most memorable beginning to the magic that is Agatha Christie, but don't remember reading many after that. I watched a lot of movies or BBC episodes featuring Miss Marple or Hercules Poirot. It was my daughter who got me interested in reading the books when she discovered the same magic not too long ago. We've been on the lookout ever since for books to add to her shelves. Not in any particular order, just if the mystery and story looks intriguing to her.
So I thought I would start at the beginning and have Miss Marple introduced to me. This is a really good book to see how characters are introduced and tell the story. Miss Marple is almost in the background here and I wonder if it will be the same in all of the books featuring her. It's the vicar who does most of the sleuthing, but absolutely listens and heeds Miss Marple's words of wisdom and observations.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this books and can definitely recommend the book, series and author.
