Certified bad time. Loved every page.
I didn’t know anything about the author’s personal life until after I finished the book. Learning that information definitely added to my personal impact I got from the book, but I’m also glad I didn’t learn about him until after I finished the reading as I felt it made for a fresh, unfiltered impression.
A portrait of a total misanthrope. I don’t exactly sympathize with the main character. Our childhood upbringings couldn’t be more different. I can’t possibly condone or excuse his actions in his adult life. However, his ongoing personal anxieties, alienation, and fear of other people I think is more relatable than many people are comfortable admitting.
