Noragami, Band 1
by Adachitoka
Noragami means "Stray God" and its quite fitting.
The set up is everything. I watched the anime years ago yet failed to ever pick this manga up despite that cliffhanger..
Needless to say, I love the panels and stunning art work. I love the characters and their complexities. They make the world of Noragami so much more. The insight each character add gives to building the world and its problems and I love the slow burn of it.
Yato the stray god has fallen out of favor as times have changed; however, he hasn't given up and faded from existence. He lives on through the small favors and wishes requested of him. It's honest work and it's touching how he yearns for recognition (even if it is just one single person).
I love the plot twist Hiyori adds to the already full plate Yato has. She becomes half-dead too easily (her body falls asleep and her spirit roams free) and it poses a risk of her accidentally putting herself in danger. Not only is her tail the only thing keeping her tethered to the world of the living but also attracts too much attention from the other spirits (the corrupted ones). Yukine is adorable as a little spirit but very angsty as a teen. He's still very adorable. I cant wait to see how this develops and grows each of them through their adventures together.
