Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
4.0

4.5 stars…definitely. Why am I always surprised when teen fiction novels are well-written and well-developed? I feel like it is a little sad for the genre as a whole that I hold it to such a low standard. And yet, every once in awhile, you get a book that reminds me how good teen fiction can be. Jellicoe Road is definitely one of them. It is a story of an abandoned teenager, Taylor. Her mother and now her mentor, Hannah, have left her…literally…stranded on the side of the road. There are flashbacks told in pieces (not in chronological order) that give the story as a whole some mystery. But slowly, the reader (and Taylor) begin to piece together the puzzle and the result is both heart breaking and heart warming. Definitely worth the read.
