Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt
4.0

After reading Going Vintage (my review) I knew I wanted to read more of Lindsey Leavitt's books. Sean Griswold's Head was the one I had heard the most things about so I figured it was the one I should read! And it didn't disappoint.

I love the concept for this book. Just the title is great. I think everyone can relate to always being physically around someone in school because of late name proximity, but also not really knowing them. I love how Leavitt took this concept and combined it with this crazy therapy idea and turned it into a story.

The family in Going Vintage was pretty damn great, but Payton's family really rocks, too. Her dad was recently diagnosed with MS and while her family definitely doesn't handle telling her very well, she still obviously has a really great family. They spend time together, they care about each other, her parents know what's happening in her life and are involved. I've said it before, but it's always nice to see involved, realistic parents in YA books.

Payton's best friend kind of drove me up the wall, as best friends tend to do. I absolutely hated her nicknames for people and how boy crazy she was, but I told myself to remember that she's 15 years old, not 17 years old like a lot of the characters in YA books that I read, so I tried to cut her some slack.

Sean Griswold the person is pretty great It was nice to see a male character who's into cycling, which is different than a lot of the sports you see high school male characters play. I also loved how physical fitness is worked into the book overall. I'm all about the healthy living!

I don't have a ton of criticisms about the book. I thought the idea of a "scary" hallway was kind of ridiculous. And the biting thing was never explained which I thought was super weird.

Bottom Line: This is a quick, easy, super fun read. It deals with some serious issues, but they're handled appropriately in a fun, playful voice. Payton is a very relatable main character and Sean Griswold is a great romantic lead. I am two for two with Lindsey Leavitt books and I can't wait to read more by her!
