This book was like a love letter to LA.  It was also dry like a california wine.  A bit pretentious and full of itself, but in the end, it gets the job done.

I really liked the premise of this story.  Every time Daphne enters a relationship, she receives a slip of paper that lists a name and how long the relationship will last until one paper has only a name. Rife for entertaining storytelling.  And yet, somehow the past relationships are boring and seem to have no effect on the growth of the main character. In fact, because of the slip of paper, Daphne is ready to be out of each relationship, possibly never fully or honestly giving herself over to each man.  The most interesting bit of the book happened at 84% for me.

While it was a quick and enjoyable read, I think it would have been better to go linerally through the years instead of hopping back and forth between the present and the past.
