a fantastic memoir. one of the best books i've ever read. the prose is gorgeous, poetic, and intense. the content is absolutely phenomenal (and i especially love how everything written in this novel--no matter how bizarre or out-of-place it initially seems--ties back to one overarching theme). carmen maria machado's writing is on another level.
