Stolen Time
by Danielle Rollins
Honestly? I read the blurb and wasn’t that interested. But, I shouldn’t have assumed I wasn’t going to like it and boy am I glad I decided to read it because it is exponentially better than I thought it would be! Know what else I shouldn’t have done? Assumed the book was stand-alone. There is absolutely nothing worse than getting sucked into a story and realising you have to wait for the next part! I was about half way through when I realised there was too much that needed to happen so there was going to need to be a second book. I am DEVASTATED. On the one hand, I am very excited that these characters and this world gets more time and we get to explore it in more depth but, on the other hand, I am deeply unsatisfied because I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS! This was basically my thought throughout the entire novel which, I have to say (without it being a flex), very rarely happens to me because I have read A LOT of books and it is hard to surprise me now. But, man, this book surprised me. I guessed some of it but there was some I just. Did. Not. See. Coming. Rollins’ dual-narrative is a really great way of giving us a wider picture of the story and I loved her use of journal entries to slip us more information in an interesting way. All in all, it was a fast-paced and intriguing read. I really don’t know what else to say because I’ve literally just finished it (at the time of writing) and I’m just sitting on my bed going “WHY?! WHY?!” I’m not sure my heart can wait long to find out what happens to my time-travelling babies so, @vegarollins , I don’t want to rush genius but if you could let us know a publication date for the untitled sequel before I explode, that would be excellent, please and thank you.
I am very happy to say that this is wholly appropriate and 3000% recommended for all secondary school ages (11-18)
