Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

5.0

"And then it hits me like a bolt of lightning."

I haven't read much recently, so I picked this book up and decided to try it again. I had started it back in 2020, but going back to work forced me to put it down. I didn't expect just how much I would like it. I agree with other reviews out there that say the concept and ideas are overused; however, I still loved it.

I think the world in which Red Queen takes place is intriguing. I also think that Victoria Aveyard does a great job with descriptions in the book, and I really feel like I am transported to a slightly dystopian way of life. I'm not a huge fan of romance books, so I like how the romance in this book was sprinkled in, but not very in your face. (Until the ending, which gets to be a little far fetched, but I digress). I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing where the little lightning girl takes us!
