I fancied a dark romance but didn’t realise this was a YA and was written quite some time ago. So it wasn’t exactly what I was hoping it would be.

That being said it wasn’t a bad read overall. It’s the tame version of a dark mafia romance. Although some of the violence was a little 😳 for a YA.

I can see why everyone gets annoyed with Sophie and her naiveté but I think part of it is mostly denial. She knows roughly what’s going on most of the time but with what happened it’s just easier to claim ignorance sometimes.

The brothers are a lot to unpack, olive skinned Italian boys with guns and attitude. What’s not to love. Luca comes across as a grump but I warmed to him more than Nic, who feels more like a shiny pretty boy (but does have good intentions).

The pacing is pretty fast and I love short chapters. It’s engaging and keeps you wanting to know more. Although I’m in two minds as to whether I want to finish the series (I prob will).
