I found the writing style of this book incredibly hard to get into. It felt as if it had been written far earlier than  the 70s and the narration felt very distant from any of the characters. After an initial slog through the first third of the book, I did get used to the stile and the plot picked up a little. The world building is very cool and a wide area is traversed which is good if you like epic or quest type fantasy. I did however find the ending a little unsatisfying and not as big a showdown as I was expecting, I think this was in part again due to the style of writing. It was a nice book but I'm not sure it would be the first thing I'd recommend to anyone.
