The Universe of Us by Lang Leav
4.0
As seen on Caity Reads.
“I know there is a terrible distance between us. But our bodies are made of stardust, and we are hurtling through space and time, toward the most beautiful collision.”
I really enjoy reading poetry and have really been in the mood for it lately. I was happy to remember that I had this stashed on my kindle to devour. Which is exactly what I did, devour it. This collection of poetry is delightfully deep and evocative. It touches on subjects such as heartbreak, first loves, hope, and inner strength. Leav does a wonderful job of capturing each of those subjects and making you feel the coinciding emotions. I would definitely recommend this if you enjoy poetry and I hope to read more from her in the future.
Because I have a hard time finding enough to write about poetry collections, here are some more quotes from The Universe of Us that I love.
“It was a kind love, a selfless love. I was a dreamer, and you were a traveler. We met at the crossroads. I saw love in your smile, and I recognized it for the first time in my life. But you had a plane to catch, and I was already home.”
“The sad thing is,” she said, “the moment you start to miss someone, it means they’re already gone.”
“Today
Today I am not in my skin. My body cannot contain me. I am spilling out and over, like a rogue wave on the shore. Today I can’t keep myself from feeling like I don’t have a friend in the world. And no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to pick myself up off the floor. My demons are lying in wait, they are grinning in the shadows, their polished fangs glinting, knowing today, it will be an easy kill. But tomorrow, tomorrow could be different, and that is what keeps me going today.”
I received a digital copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks to NetGalley, Andrew McMeel Publishing, and the author for this opportunity.
