What a beautiful, tragic story. Kristin Hannah weaves a truly picturesque tale of love and loss. She explores grief and heartbreak from every possible angle set against the breathtaking Alaskan landscape.
It's so easy to be drawn into Leni's world. To feel her fear, her anger, her joy, and her love. You fall in love with character after character and will find yourself dreaming of those long Alaskan summer nights (not so much those dark winter nights though...).
If you told me this story was a biography, I would believe you, in a heartbeat - the mark of an excellent historical novel. I will - without a doubt - be returning to one of Kristin Hannah's worlds soon. She's too good not to be celebrated far and wide!
