This book did a great job showing the reality of war and revolution; there’s not always a clear “right” and “wrong,” and sometimes the “good guys” do evil things too. The characters were well developed and felt realistic. However, I felt like the writing was a little over-the-top sometimes, especially when describing characters’ emotions. Overall, I really liked this book and found it approachable for someone who doesn’t usually enjoy fantasy!
