Forbidden Fruit: From The Letters of Abelard and Heloise by Héloïse d'Argenteuil, Pierre Abélard
2.0

I am still not quite sure how this book, a collection of letters shared between a medieval monk and nun, have been classified as "great loves," but what I can tell you is that Heloise from the 12th century is clear evidence that men have been pretty poor loves for centuries. Yay consistency!

The only "love" in these letters is that of Heloise, who seems to have a fairy firm and critical understanding of love. If it weren't for her two, short letters in this book, this book would bearly breach a one star rating.

The letters from Pierre Abelard, on the other hand, are worthless, loveless, insistent periods of complaining about how hard is life is to which Heloise constantly tries to counter but (surprising no one) Abelard is too caught up in himself to show any love back to Heloise.

Save yourself the effort and pass up this dubiously series-ed book.
