β’Youβve ever wished walls could talk.
β’You have a love of all things old or historical- houses, furniture, books, oddities- and believe they have a story to tell.
β’Youβre a fan of mystery, the mysterious, and the mystical.
β’Youβve always had that instinct about you that allows you to sense or read peopleβs character easily.
**Do not read this is you are triggered by physical or verbal abuse.

This book has the definitely feels like βThe Secret Gardenβ meets βAlice in Wonderlandβ meets modern days times with a historical twist.
βIn a place called lost strange things are found.β
The Lost Bookshop brings together two tales, weaved together in a dual timeline story taking place in both the 1920βs and present day. The story is written from the perspective of the 3 main characters- Opaline, Martha, and Henry. While Opaline and Martha are looking to escape abusive lives, Henry is looking for a lost manuscript. Their worlds collide and their lives are woven together through a lost bookshop, in which mystery, the mysterious, even mystical things live. Trouble is, present day, no one can find the bookshop, yet a part of it seems to exist in each one of them. Slowly the pieces are revealed one by one and the mystery uncovered, and the bookstore revealed.
I found this book slow to start and then it just took off. It was full of romance, oddities, and secrets. My favorites character, Mrs. Bowden kept things fun and exciting, with her with witty charm and seemingly ignorant attitude to the going ons around her. I was honestly still stumped over halfway through the book. Then, with about 10% left the author dropped a bomb that rocked my world. However, after the bomb, disappointment ensues- I felt the end was rushed which was a real let down. For that that Iβm only giving it a 3.5 βοΈ, but honestly it probably deserves 4β¦.so you should still read it. βΊοΈ
