Honestly, I only recommend the first book. The second book was not my cup of tea but ok. The third book is just bad.

Destroy the Day is very slow-paced, not a lot of important things happen until 75% of the book. I was close to DNFing multiple times but I also wanted to know how the series would end since I already invested so much time in this serie.

We know from the start that Corrick is alive, but Tessa does not know this. Her grieving Corrick therefore does not affect the readers. This makes the grieving so tiring to read. In addition, all the main characters are seperated from the start. This is not fun to read and they are constantly whining about how much they miss eachother. But, I think Harristan's storyline was the most boring.

However, some parts were fun to read about, like the introduction of new characters and more information on the illness and moonflower. Overall, it is also easy to read. I also liked the character development in Corrick and reading more about the personal backgrounds of the guards, like Thorin and Saeth.

Tessa only reunited with Corrick at 75%. Therefore, you almost read nothing about their relationship. Only at 75% you will get some resolvement and action but also really brief. For example, you don't see how Olive and Erik save the children in the castle and the battle scene is so short.

Also, is it just me or did Harristan never have any chemistry with Quint before? My feeling is that the author wanted to have a queer character so they added one out of nowhere without any built up...

Last, is it just me or is Harristan leaving Kandala with Quint really out of character? Actually, for both Quint and Harristan? Why leave the 19 year old Corrick without his brother and bestfriend, without a king and palace master?
