Observatory Mansions by Edward Carey

4.0

I'm a huge fan of Edward Carey, and this book did not disappoint. Like all his other books, it is delightfully weird. I read this book for book club, and I was excited to read Carey's first foray into fiction. I think what I loved most about this book is how creepy it is- it really sneaks up on you. At first it just seems like a book about a bunch of odd characters who live in an odd and decrepit apartment building, but when you really think about these characters and their actions... absolutely chilling. This book surprised me, and I absolutely loved that. As with his other books, Carey includes some of his drawings- I just wish he had added more. For me, they add so much more to his stories.
