The Girl on the Train
by Paula Hawkins
Quick read, not any complicated or poetic writing to get through. It's very to-the-point, and the different points of view are interesting, though I hated almost every character (except Cathy and the detectives, I suppose).
I read this because it was so highly recommended and a best-seller with its own movie. I loved Gone Girl, and this is like the faster-paced, creepier version of that with some just really cringe-worthy content. The writing is simple, good, not anything new. The storyline gets repetitive at some points (Rachel going to Anna and Tom's house, Tom talking to her, Anna being suspicious, and repeat), but overall a pretty good read.
Definitely kept me on my toes. Took me about three days of reading to get through it. I'm not usually a thriller reader kind of person, but I thought this was well-done. Some things were unnecessary to the storyline and just added to it being so messed up.
Overall, a good read that makes you think.
