The Beginning of Everything
by Robyn Schneider
I EDITED THIS BECAUSE I HAVE ELECTRICITY AND NOW I CAN MAKE IT FORMAL AND BETTER AND I'M TYPING IN A COMPUTER NOW SO HERE IT GOES:
There was a super typhoon in my place so my electricity was cut off. I spent one whole night without air conditioner (aw, dammit!). But that's not the point, really. I spent my time reading this cute, awesome, yet heartbreaking book! \m/ (at the same time conserving battery)
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ : I wasn't expecting that; I need more!!!!1!
The Beginning of Everything is about Ezra, a boy who used to be so popular and all, until his tragedy came: Injuring his leg due to a car accident after seeing his girlfriend cheating on him. After that, he goes downhill, from being the president to just "a guy with a cane."
Then Cassidy comes along. Cassidy is a new student from a boarding school, and she's a star in debating. Together with Cassidy, Ezra's childhood friend Toby, and all their other debate mates, Ezra changes and gets used to his new life now. And of course, the romance: Cassidy and Ezra falls in love.
But there's something that tears them apart, something that can never be fixed...and you need to read it to find out.
Good points I want to point out:
- This book points out a lot of stuff that people will be familiar with. I'm going to point out some that made me smile: The Kooks, hentai (lmao I'm sorry). There's a lot of humor in this book, especially from Toby.
-The romance was so good oh my god I even forgot that Ezra was IN A CANE and I just cannot Ezra and Cassidy are such cuties.
-You know what I appreciate the most? Ezra not turning into a douchebag. Ezra turning into a fine, young, and confused teenager figuring out his life and his tragedy.
-And lastly, this book had its own metaphor (like Looking for Alaska's labyrinth): the Panopticon. I like it when books have this sort of metaphor that will lead to the conclusion of the story.
