Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
5.0

I read this book in one rainy afternoon sat by the window.

From the get go this book completely immerses you in it's world; the convenience store is as real and breathing as the main character believes it to be. The story of an odd woman finding her place struck home. You follow her as she deals with the expectations people have of someone her age. Why isn't she married? Why isn't she dating or at least trying? Isn't she lonely? This story really speaks to those people who don't have plans that fit in with what society expects of them. On top of that, it delves deep into how far we're willing to go for people to see us as normal and leave us alone.

Beyond that the writing style is as meticulous as the store itself.
