Like many of the books I have been reading, I had literally no idea what Pet was about, and it was pretty interesting to figure it out while I went along. I was excited to discover how Pet mixes fantasy with real life in an attempt to help young people understand more about human nature.
I believe this book would be especially good for younger YA readers but also for people looking to expand their worldview. Emezi naturally introduces charachters with different racial, ethnic and gender identities and then takes them on a rad adventure to fight real life monsters--all while extending grace and being overall good people.
