The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
4.0
A woman's life interwoven with the impact she (unknowingly) made on science today. I loved the narrative pieces about her life and the struggles her family faced coming to terms with what had happened, but wasn't crazy about all of the science stuff (and the fact that I just called it "science stuff" should indicate I don't normally go for that). It brought up a lot of issues I had never considered – do we have the right to determine and know what happens with our cells after they leave our bodies? Do we "own" them, and if not, who does? Very well done and I will never think about cells without thinking of her, which is precisely what the author and Lacks' family wanted.
