Invincible Vol. 6: A Different World by Robert Kirkman

4.0

A reunion I did not expect to see yet and a battle so gruesome the gore stands out on the page!

“Who do you think you are?! You think you can get away with this?!”

Mark is trying to juggle a lot, dealing with a lot and as more and more piles up, I’m waiting for the hammer to fall. I worry about how much his good morals are forcing him to disobey those who command him - not that he shouldn’t do it, but that he will be punished for it. He has people he loves who can be used against him.

Much like how the people Nolan loves are used against him here! Exciting to see the big guy again and learn that he is slowly changing from the ways that he was expected to follow for so long.

However didn’t appreciate the dropping of the R-word here and using being gay in a joking manner. I feel like I have these conflicting comments with every volume’s review, where I adore the plot but small, tiny things pull me out of my enjoyment. Luckily, most of this volume was spent with Nolan and Mark so I have fewer complaints. But it shows this series’s age - things that were “funny” then are not funny now. I could 100% see why some people stick to the new show over revisiting the old material.
