I can't help but feel disappointed and underwhelmed. Despite its reputation and the countless recommendations I received, the story failed to capture my attention. I found myself bored and restless throughout, eagerly waiting for something to happen that would justify its acclaim. Even as I forced myself to read on, hoping for a satisfying resolution, the ending came abruptly and left me feeling empty.
While I recognise that this story has influenced modern literature and horror films, I struggle to see the appeal. Its characters lacked depth and development, and the plot felt predictable and unremarkable. Despite my initial excitement and eagerness to enjoy it, I can't imagine this story having any lasting impact on me. It's a shame, really, that such a celebrated classic could leave me feeling so indifferent.
