You could feel that this book was 800+ pages. It felt long and drug on. But the grief and loss was incredibly well written. Racism was a focal point and was written in a way that did not shy away from the hard realities of being a black girl in a world of unbelonging. I loved those aspects! I did not always love the characters and felt they were very shallowly written. Overall, the ending was fantastic and almost* worth the wait. Not sure if I’ll continue the series
