This is an objectively fantastic book that just never really clicked for me. The characters were engaging and I was fascinated by how the ideas of both gods and America were presented, but despite that, it's been a while since I felt like I had to push myself this hard to finish a book. It pains me to say this after how highly he was recommended to me, but ultimately, I think I just don't particularly care for Gaiman's storytelling style. I'm willing to give him another shot if another one of his books catches my eye (I've actually had The Sandman in the back of my mind for a while), but it's not anything I see myself going out of my way to read more of.
