Lessons in Chemistry
by Bonnie Garmus
something about this writing just throws me off. everything is is stated so matter of factly with no emotion. so much so that i don’t believe in the “love” calvin and elizabeth have
some other things that threw me off
- the constant cursing which doesn’t match the time period this is set in
- the jumping around topics and events
“poor cops had budget cuts” in chapter 11 - the way people talk about elizabeth as if she’s the only beautiful person in the world
- other characters have no depth and seem to exist only for elizabeth
- canned soup is bad bc it’s full on chemicals? doesn’t sound like something a real chemist would say
