Two By Two
by Nicholas Sparks
Usually I cannot immerse myself in books by Nicholas Sparks. Many of his books are written in the third person and contain too much unnecessary detail in their paragraphs. I found Two by Two to be a breath of fresh air from the way most of his books are written. I felt able to connect more with each character, finding myself upset with the way Vivian was treating Russ and London. I feel that this book does lack a significant love story. Instead, I feel that Sparks wanted to show the difficulties of a father going through a painful divorce and being the only parent in a child's life as the other parent explores other avenues. I was a little blindsided by the way the story changed from a lighthearted read (or as lighthearted as any story about divorce could be) to a more dark, thought-provoking read as Russ's older sister got cancer. A great, well-written book. My only issues being the lack of a good editor. There were so many mistakes in this book, I felt it necessary to correct each one every few pages.
