All Quiet on the Western Front
by Erich Maria Remarque
I was a little wary to reread this because I remembered thinking it was the best and most profound thing when I was all of fourteen and read it the first time. But it held up. Brutal, simple and effective. Definitely holds its own as the definitive work of that "Great" War.
