I’m so glad I’ve started reading this series because this book was just as good as book 1. Now I will admit, I found this one a lot more confusing than book 1 (which I didn’t really find very confusing) but I was only slightly confused at the start and then when trying to piece everything together at the end but it was just so enjoyable.

I really enjoyed following this from Harrow’s perspective after the events of ‘Gideon’. This book switches between 2nd and 3rd person with a bit of first person too which I can see some people disliking but personally 2nd person has never bothered me. It was also done for good reason which makes it even better. The characters in this series are all just so full of life. Each character is so distinct and unique and so enjoyable to read. Of course Gideon and Harrow are still the favourites!

I can safely say I have never read anything like this before. It’s so refreshing to read just an utterly new concept that mixes sci-fi and fantasy expertly. I loved seeing more about what Harrow can do with her necromancy now and what slightly different powers people have. We also learn much more about the universe such as God/the emperor, other Lyctors and seeing other planets.

I already bought Nona while reading this because I know I need it there for when I cave and continue the series. I’m trying to hold off as long as possible so there isn’t too much of a wait for Alecto but I also need to get to Nona before I forget all the wild things that happened in this one!
