The Hunting Wives by May Cobb

4.0

Oh I loved this. It was such a fun read and gave me a lot of the same vibes as the movie A Simple Favor did, except if it were explicitly queer, so like, my dream. At first I wasn’t sure if it was actually going to be gay, despite all the hints I was picking up on, but like no, I knew it. I saw some reviews saying this book is biphobic, but I don’t really think that’s the case? Even though Sophie says to herself that she’s straight, it’s obvious from every word of her internal monologue and her actions that that’s not true. And as for Margot…some bi people are just horrible people, that’s called #representation lmao.

Being serious, the whole Margot/Brad and Sophie/Jamie storylines made me super uncomfortable but given the conclusion to the story, I feel like that was the point? I saw a review saying this book was “glorifying” sleeping with teenage boys and no???
SpoilerMargot got killed for it??? Sophie’s marriage is likely over as a result?
It’s crazy to me how people still don’t understand that depiction does not equal endorsement. Anyway this was a wild ride, and I’m now super excited to see the television adaptation of it!
