The Deception of the Emerald Ring by Lauren Willig

4.0

There is enough overlap between the books in this series to establish familiarity, but enough differentiation to keep me interested in the series as a whole.

The escapades of the Pink Carnation continue is this third installment while the amorous adventures of her compatriats and cohorts develop all around her. I'd be hard pressed to tell you what it is exactly that I love so much about these books, and about this one in particular. There are so many things.

I love that each love story is a different kind of love story, and that it's not all super flowery romance but in many ways as palatable as it is entertaining. I don't mind the happy endings of these books, perhaps because in many ways the stories are setup with so much potential for heartache/break, and endure so much before the happy ending develops. And the happy endings develop because of the growth of the characters rather than just magically materializing.

Can't wait for the next one!
