This book was written a long while ago. However. Ugh. I read it for the Sword and Laser book club. I'm trying to read more of their picks to expose myself to fantasy and sci-fi reads that I might otherwise overlook. Well, this one I'd for sure have overlooked and I don't think that would have been a bad thing. If it had been much longer, I'm not sure I'd have finished it. There's a lot of violence, this is true, but really, it just did not make me care much. Additionally, there is literally one woman. One. And she does not pass the Bechdel test. She basically exists for our main character, Elric, to have someone to "love" and rescue.
