Beautiful Storm by Katherine Jay

5.0

I had been recommended by my amazing friend, Lakshmi, to read Katherine's books, and having an ARC for this new series gave me that time. I was blown away on my own beautiful storm of emotions. This was everything I love in an angsty, steamy read with strong characters, and I am kicking myself for waiting so long to read Katherines writing, and now want to read everything.

This is book 1 in a new series and it is an absolute touchdown. Luke is our MMC, the NFL Player hoping for that elusive Super Bowl win, with the playboy good looks and personality. He finds himself having a one night stand with his childhood friend from his past, a woman he is has not seen for many years, Amelia. Amelia has left her marriage after deciding she wants more for herself, and wants to just have a meaningless hook up, probably hadn't expected it would be Luke but moments in time happen for a reason. Well the meaningless becomes something that can't be forgotten and will be that forever tie that changes everything.

Amelia has kept a diary, and throughout, the dynamic, the hurt, the pain of two childhood friends who have become enemies is shown, and there is some hurt on both sides, misunderstanding, mistrust. Amelia is embarking on her directorial debut with a "fly on the wall" documentary with none other than the team Luke plays for. Both of them don't want this known to the team, management and production company, however, when the result of that hook up is the pregnancy neither of them expected, they are forced to confront their pasts. There is so much angst, hurt and feelings as they both navigate there new reality, and Amelia sees the side of Luke that she remembers, but he also needs to earn her trust. So many of these moments just broke me, so you will need those tissues and hold your heart close. It is said everything happens for a reason, and even amongst the thunderclouds,, lightening and torrential rain, there can come the most beautiful storm ever.
